Complete transformation of hotel and restaurant spaces

In August 2025, Original Sokos Hotel Vaakuna reopened its doors, unveiling fully redesigned spaces that honor the city’s rich history as Finland’s oldest inland town. The renovation spanned across all the hotel’s spaces from rooms and suites to meeting spaces as well as the hotel restaurant Le Blason.

Inspired by Hämeenlinna’s long tradition of commerce and craftsmanship, the interiors celebrate natural materials, like wood, glass, and metal, woven seamlessly throughout the spaces. Every detail, from the interplay of textures to the depth of finishes, invites guests to feel the connection between the hotel, the surrounding nature, and the city’s historic landmarks.

Revitalising a historic building is about balance: preserving the sense of place that only time can create, while embracing modern, sustainable comforts.

During the renovation of Original Sokos Hotel Vaakuna, this balance deepened into something more ambitious. The project expanded to encompass all aspects of the building’s service technology, opening the door for our team to even more efficiently infuse in the signature Magic of Vertti & Co: reimagined lighting, nuanced ambience, and immersive atmospheres.

What began as restoration became transformation and an opportunity to let history and innovation shine together.
